There are many Christmas events that you can enjoy for free. Below is some of the events that you might find interesting for you and your family. 1. CHRISTMAS MUSICAL ----------------------------------- Enjoy a free Christmas musical that highlights the true meaning of Christmas at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church on Sunday, Dec 4. The musical is part of a church service and the public are welcome. Date: Sunday, Dec 4 Place: Sherwood Oaks Christian Church 2700 E. Rogers Rd (Map: www.socc.org/About/Facility/directions.html ) Times: 8:00am, 9:30am, and 11:00am FREE TRANSPORTATION is provided for the 9:30am program from the following locations: Evermann, Red Bud, Banta, Campus View, Eigenmann, Tulip Tree, Forrest, and Wilkie South. CHRISTMAS DESSERTS AND ARTS SHOWCASE ----------------------------------- You are invited to the InterVarsity Christmas Dessert and Arts Showcase. Date: Sunday, Dec 4 Time: 3pm Place: Teter Quadrangle Formal Lounge. Admission is a Christmas Toy to be donated to Toys for Tots. You’ll enjoy a great time of celebrating the Christmas season through art and music. You can also join in for Christmas carolling to the residents (senior citizens) of the lovely Redbud Hills Retirement Community. The optional carolling is from 4:15 - 5:00 pm. CHRISTMAS HARPS CONCERT ----------------------------------- Hear a collection of Christmas favorites beautifully rendered by the best harpists from the world-renowned IU School of Music. Date: Wednesday, Dec 7 Place: Sherwood Oaks Christian Church 2700 E. Rogers Rd (Map: www.socc.org/About/Facility/directions.html ) Time: 7:00pm 4. LIVE NATIVITY DRIVE-THRU ----------------------------------- Live Nativity is the scene depicting the birth of Jesus Christ with real life people and animals. Take a journey back in time to the days of Jesus – in your car! Cruise the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church’s grounds with family and friends as your car winds around outdoor scenes of important events in the life of Jesus. And it’s all FREE! Go with us for the drive-thru and join us later for some hot cider, hot chocolate, some delicious Christmas cookies and learn some Christmas carols and the Christmas story at the barn-home of Carthell and Peggy Everett. Transportation provided. Date: Sunday, Dec 11 Meet at 6:30pm at Eigenmann Hall entrance You can either catch a ride or drive along with us on your own car. We will drive to Sherwood Oaks (SOCC) for the drive-thru and then drive down to the home of Carthell and Peggy Everett. DAY TRIP TO NASHVILLE, INDIANA ----------------------------------- Date: Saturday, Dec 17 Time: 10am - 7pm Cost: $15 The Christmas season is a wonderful time to visit the historic town of Nashville, IN. The town is decorated beautifully and sponsors many Christmas activities. We will leave Bloomington at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, and return at around 7 p.m. You will have the opportunity to ride a horse-drawn carriage, take a picture with Santa Claus, hear strolling Christmas carolers (singers), shop, eat, and enjoy a Christmas musical show. Cost is $15 for transportation and a ticket to the Christmas show. Bring extra money for shopping, meals, and pictures with Santa (if you’d like). If you would like to go on this day trip, please email Randy Hawes at rahawes@indiana.edu by Friday, Dec. 3, so that tickets can be reserved. 6. ISI INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FELLOWSHIP ----------------------------------- Every Friday 6:30pm Evangelical Community Church Our weekly fellowship meeting offers you the opportunity to make new friends, share food and fun, and participate in discussion groups that will help you learn about the Christian faith. Both Christian and non-Christians are welcome and will find the meeting interesting and beneficial. We meet at the Evangelical Community Church (ECC), on the corner of 2nd and High Street. Rides are provided from the front of Eigenmann Hall at 6:00 p.m. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Food and Conversation 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. Bible Discussion group Contact Randy Hawes at rahawes@indiana.edu for more information. 7. You'll have a chance to stay with an American host family and celebrate Christmas with them. Of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to go shopping and take pictures!
